More than three decades after being sentenced to life in prison for the murders of their parents, the Menendez brothers are once again before the parole board. On Thursday, Erik Menendez’s request for parole was denied by California officials, with Parole Commissioner Robert Barton arguing that Erik still poses ‘an unreasonable risk of danger to society if released.’ Erik, now 54, addressed the board directly, acknowledging the pain caused by his actions and expressing remorse. His brother, Lyle Menendez, is scheduled for his own parole hearing on Friday. Both remain incarcerated at the R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.
